Best OTA travel technology in Europe: 2026 buyer's guide
An online travel agency selling in Europe needs one booking layer across GDS, NDC and low-cost air, several hotel sources, card payments that pass Strong Customer Authentication, pricing in euro and non-euro currencies, and data protection that satisfies an EU or UK procurement review. This guide explains what that stack must do, how to score vendors, and compares the platforms worth shortlisting. Innovate Solution's ReservationHub is listed first as the publisher; the rest are in no particular order.

The best OTA travel technology in Europe combines GDS, NDC and low-cost-carrier air with bed-bank and direct hotel content in one search, a white-label storefront or API, PSD2-ready multi-currency payments, a back office that tracks margin per booking, and a GDPR Article 28 DPA. Platforms worth shortlisting include Innovate Solution's ReservationHub and TripGic alongside OTRAMS, ZentrumHub, FlightsLogic, moonstride, GP Solutions, Travelopro, Travelomatix, TravelCarma and Juniper.
What "OTA travel technology" means
OTA travel technology is the software stack an online travel agency sells through: a supplier layer that aggregates flights, hotels and ground services; a pricing and markup engine; a customer-facing booking site, app or agent portal (or an API if you build your own); a payment layer; and a back office for ticketing, reconciliation and margin. An OTA rarely builds all of this itself — most run a platform from a travel technology provider, either as hosted SaaS, as a self-hosted licence, or as an API behind a front end they own.
Six things a European OTA platform has to get right
Europe is not one market. The points below are what changes between a platform that works on a vendor demo and one that works on your routes, your currencies and your regulators' questions.
1. Low-cost carriers dominate short-haul
Intra-European leisure flying is heavily served by low-cost carriers such as Ryanair, easyJet, Wizz Air, Vueling, Transavia and Volotea, and much of that content is not fully available through the GDS. A platform needs direct or aggregated LCC connections — and a way to sell LCC fares next to GDS fares with the same markup rules and servicing flow.
2. NDC is live with Europe's airline groups
Several European airline groups now distribute part of their fares, bundles and ancillaries through NDC, so an OTA that only has GDS content misses offers its competitors can sell. Ask how NDC orders are serviced — changes, refunds and reissues — not only how they are booked. See GDS vs NDC.
3. Payments must pass Strong Customer Authentication
Online card payments in the EEA and the UK fall under PSD2 Strong Customer Authentication. Ask which payment gateways are supported, who holds the merchant relationship, and how 3-D Secure challenges are handled inside the booking flow without losing the fare.
4. Euro is not the only currency
The UK, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, Czechia and Hungary all price outside the euro. Pricing, display and settlement in several currencies — with the supplier's currency and your selling currency both recorded — is a day-one requirement for any OTA selling across borders.
5. GDPR and UK GDPR shape procurement
An EU or UK OTA's legal team will ask for a Data Processing Agreement with Article 28 terms, a sub-processor list with hosting regions, and a transfer mechanism for data leaving the EEA or the UK. Vendors that cannot produce these documents do not clear procurement.
6. Packages carry traveller-protection duties
Combining flights with accommodation or other services brings the EU Package Travel Directive (2015/2302) and, in the UK, the Package Travel Regulations 2018 and ATOL into play. The licence belongs to you, not the software — but the platform must record every package component, supplier cost and customer payment cleanly so your obligations are easy to evidence.
How to choose OTA travel technology for Europe.
Score every candidate — including ReservationHub and TripGic — against these, then use the vendor evaluation checklist for the contract and proof-of-concept questions. Insist on a proof-of-concept on your own routes: a demo on the vendor's sample data proves very little.
- Air content for European routes
- Full-service carriers through the GDS, NDC for the airline groups that distribute fares and ancillaries that way, and direct or aggregated low-cost-carrier content — all normalised into one search with your markups applied.
- Hotels and ground
- Several bed-banks and direct hotel connectivity side by side, with room-level de-duplication so the same room is not shown five times, plus transfers, activities and car hire for packaging.
- Front end and channels
- A white-label B2C storefront and a B2B agent portal under your brand, or a REST API if you build your own front end and apps.
- Payments and currencies
- Card payments in the EEA and the UK under Strong Customer Authentication (PSD2), with pricing in euro and non-euro currencies such as GBP, SEK, DKK, NOK, PLN and CHF.
- Back office and margin
- Supplier cost, customer price and margin recorded per booking as it happens, with BSP and supplier reconciliation and FX handling.
- Data protection and hosting
- A GDPR Article 28 DPA, a published sub-processor list with hosting regions, a transfer mechanism for data leaving the EEA/UK, and a self-hosted option if your compliance team needs it.
- Packaging and traveller protection
- Clean records of package components, supplier costs and customer payments so Package Travel Directive and ATOL obligations are easy to evidence.

OTA travel technology in Europe — common questions
What is the best OTA travel technology in Europe?
There is no single best platform — it depends on your air content needs (GDS, NDC and low-cost carriers on European routes), hotel sourcing, whether you want a ready-made front end or an API, your payment and currency mix, and how much finance and data-protection control you need. Innovate Solution's ReservationHub is a strong all-rounder because it is offered as cloud SaaS, a self-hosted Source Code edition and a Travel API, with GDS, NDC and LCC content in one search. Score every platform on this page against your own routes and volumes.
What does an OTA technology stack in Europe include?
A supplier layer (GDS, NDC and low-cost-carrier air; bed-banks and direct hotel connections; transfers, activities and cars), a pricing and markup engine, a B2C storefront and/or B2B agent portal or an API, a payment layer that handles Strong Customer Authentication and multiple currencies, a back office for supplier reconciliation and margin, and data-protection controls for GDPR and UK GDPR.
Do European OTAs need GDS, NDC and LCC content together?
Usually, yes. Short-haul Europe is served heavily by low-cost carriers that are not fully available through the GDS, several European airline groups distribute part of their fares and ancillaries through NDC, and long-haul and interline itineraries still rely on the GDS. A platform that normalises all three into one search shows the cheapest valid fare instead of hiding it in a separate tool.
Can I build my own OTA front end on an API instead of using a white-label portal?
Yes. Innovate Solution's TripGic exposes flights, hotels, cars, transfers and activities through one REST API, so you can build your own OTA experience and apps on aggregated supplier content without integrating each supplier yourself. ReservationHub is also offered as a Travel API behind your own front end.
Does Innovate Solution have clients in Europe?
Yes. Innovate Solution has clients in United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Sweden, running InnoTravelTech, ReservationHub, TRI and Drop Catch. We do not publish client names, cities, volumes or results without permission, and we have no European office — projects are delivered and supported from Singapore, the UAE and Bangladesh.
Is the platform GDPR-compliant for an EU or UK OTA?
We act as a data processor for the personal data that flows through our platforms and offer a Data Processing Agreement with GDPR Article 28 terms that also covers the UK GDPR. Transfers outside the EEA or the UK are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses (EU 2021/914) and the UK Addendum; our published sub-processor list shows hosting regions, which include Ireland on AWS depending on the customer's location. Your own obligations as a controller remain yours.
Can we keep our existing GDS, airline and bed-bank contracts?
Yes. ReservationHub connects to Amadeus, Sabre and Travelport with your existing credentials (PCC, Office ID or SID), and your own airline and bed-bank contracts can be connected alongside Innovate Solution's aggregated content. Innovate Solution is a Travelport Developer Network certified partner.
How are prices quoted?
All commercial proposals are quoted in US dollars, based on the products, suppliers and deployment model you choose — cloud SaaS, self-hosted source code or API. Book a demo or send your requirements and we will come back with a written proposal.
