A flight booking API lets your website, app or agent system search, price and book airline seats through code instead of a GDS screen. TripGic puts 3 GDS networks, 37 NDC carriers and 100+ low-cost airlines behind one normalised REST interface, with sub-second typical search response — so you integrate once instead of building and maintaining each airline and GDS connection yourself.

Why airline content needs aggregation

No single channel carries every fare. Full-service carriers file content in the GDS, many now sell richer offers through their own NDC channels, and most low-cost carriers sell outside the GDS altogether. A flight booking API is only as useful as the sources it combines: TripGic returns GDS, NDC and LCC fares in one result set, already normalised, so your front end compares them side by side.

What the API covers

AreaWhat you can do
SearchQuery availability and pricing across GDS, NDC and LCC sources for a journey
FlightsFare rules, ancillaries and ticketing
BookingsCreate, retrieve, cancel and manage bookings
WebhooksSubscribe to asynchronous booking and status events
PackagesCombine flights with hotels and other components through dynamic packaging

Endpoint-level detail — paths, parameters and response schemas — is issued with your credentials on onboarding. The developer documentation covers authentication and conventions.

Integration conventions

  • REST over HTTPS with JSON request and response bodies.
  • Bearer-token authentication with an API key, called from your server.
  • Idempotency keys on booking calls, so a retry never creates a duplicate ticket.
  • Versioned paths, paginated lists and per-key rate limits.
  • Currency and language parameters on requests.

Your GDS credentials or ours

If you already hold Amadeus, Sabre or Travelport accounts, connect them with your own PCC / Office ID / SID and keep your negotiated fares and commissions — no migration or re-registration. If you do not, aggregated content is available through the platform. For flight ticketing you generally need your own IATA accreditation, a host-agency arrangement, or to work as a sub-agent under a consolidator.

After the booking

Most of the work on an airline booking happens after it is made. On the platform side, ReservationHub adds real-time void, refund and reissue, PNR import and transfer (see travel agency automation), plus post-booking schedule-change alerts. Two worked examples: unified GDS, NDC and LCC flight search and AI-readable GDS fare rules.

Who uses a flight booking API

  • OTAs building their own search and checkout.
  • Consolidators feeding fares into existing agent systems.
  • Corporate booking tools and vertical apps embedding air booking.
  • Startups that want airline inventory without signing dozens of supplier contracts.

Frequently asked questions

What is a flight booking API?

A flight booking API is a programming interface that lets software search airline availability, price fares and create bookings and tickets, instead of an agent doing it on a GDS terminal. TripGic exposes GDS, NDC and low-cost-carrier content through one REST API.

Which airlines can I book through TripGic?

TripGic aggregates 3 GDS networks (Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport), 37 NDC carriers and 100+ low-cost carriers. Ask us about specific carriers on your routes.

How fast is flight search?

Typical search response is under one second, with results from all connected sources normalised into one set.

Can I use my own GDS account?

Yes. Connect your existing Amadeus, Sabre or Travelport credentials (PCC / Office ID / SID) and keep your negotiated fares.

Is there a sandbox?

Yes. On onboarding you receive an API key, the base URL for your environment, sandbox access for testing and the full endpoint reference.

How is the flight booking API priced?

TripGic pricing is usage-based. Request a quote for your expected volume.
